INDIA, OCTOBER 2010

READ Global (www.readglobal.org) inspires rural prosperity by building library community centers and seeding businesses in the community that fully sustain and support the libraries. A longtime supporter of READ and its libraries in Nepal, when READ began building libraries in India, Barbara Kipper offered to fund a library in Geejgarh, an area where the literacy rate overall is one of the lowest in India - about 22%.

The library will be complete in 2010 and will sustain projects that generate the income to support the library include a school bus and a computer center. She is traveling to India for the dedication of the library and is being honored as the major donor by the entire village.   

Her India trip also includes:

October 28: Travel to Delhi, and then on to Aman.

October 31: Geejgarh Library dedication in Amanbagh.

November 01: Visit Bhangarh and a walking tour of Ajabgarh village and farmlands.

November 02: Depart  to Bangalore, then onward to Male in the Maldives.

November 08:  Return to Bangalore, then onward for Delhi.
