Shortly before noon on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 we flipped the switch and the third incarnation of blkipper.com was released to the world. All three sites were designed and developed by longstanding creative collaborators Mightybytes, but this new one is by far the most robust in terms of features and flexibility.
New Features:
- Complete design and interface overhaul.
- Easier photo and gallery management within a single system allows for gallery creation on-the-fly.
- Extensible content management system that will allow the site to grow and expand with new features and functions over time.
- Geo-location-based gallery tagging for easy identification of travels using the Google Maps API.
- Mobile site that allows for photo, gallery and content engagement via mobile devices.
Version 2.0 of the website, launched in 2008, used online service Photoshelter for gallery management and Movable Type for content management. The site won an American Graphic Design Award, a Communicator Award and a Creative Shake Award shortly after its release. This new site, built with open source content management system Drupal is easier to use, more stable, offers more features, and we look forward to entering it in similar contests in 2011.
